Le Frog, St.Helens - Food Review by Brian and Miss JC - Monday 24th January 2012
Our fifth review of local food and drink venues is Le Frog, in George Street, St.Helens.
We went on a Tuesday to get the Tuesday Tenner special offer of 2 courses for £10, though we paid £2 extra for the more expensive beef goulash in the main course and also a side order of handcut chips.
The meals were excellent and very good value and the service was excellent, with very attentive staff. Drinks prices were average but the house white wine was very good. The atmosphere was slightly above average. A large open hall maybe more suited to larger groups but was still quiet enough for a meal for two.
Overall we gave Le Frog 8.5 due to the meal prices. Le Frog have other special offer days. see their website link above.

Crown Of India , Prescot - Food Review by Brian and Miss JC - Thursday 23rd December 2011
Our third review of local food and drink venues is The Crown Of India in Kemble Street, Prescot.
The Crown of India is a converted Victorian Style Pub, serving excellent Indian meals at very reasonable prices.
Miss JC and I had two different Lamb dishes, one hot and one mild. We shared half each and found they were both delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing. The bill, with a drink each came to £25.
We both Hightly recommend the Crown of India and will be returning. 8.5 out of 10

The Millstone, Newton-Le-Willows - Food Review by Brian and Miss JC - Sunday 6th November 2011
Our second review of local food and drink venues is The Millstone in Mill Lane, Newton-Le-Willows. We called into the Millstone bar and Restraunt, after seeing the intrigueing advert outside for "Traditional sunday Lunch - Tapas Style". There was a choice of three meats or vegetarian Nut Roast. We both ordered roast surloin of beef. We then each had a choice of 4, from a menu of 17 extras to go with the meat. I chose daughinoise potatoes, cauliflower cheese, white cabbage and bacon and char grilled mediteranean vegetables. Miss JC chose roast potatoes, broccoli gratin, white cabbage and bacon and char grilled mediteranean vegetables.
At only £7.95, we were expecting an ordinary lunch. Our lunch was even better than a meal we had in the Mullberry Tree, Wrightington, the previous fortnight. Both the meat, which was cooked to the second, and the extras, were mouthwatering. Miss JC found the chef was the owner, who was a chef in Portugal before taking over the Millstone.
Review reference scores and graphs will come soon. The Millstone gets a 9 out of 10 overall, and that is only in case we can ever find anywhere better. -- The Millstone contact telephone number is 01925 290899
The Spice Inn Rainhill - Food Review by Brian and Miss JC - Friday 7th October 2011
Our first review of local food, drink and entertainment venues is The Spice Inn in Rainhill.
Both Miss JC and myself found both the food and service to be absolutely excellent. The food being extraordinarily full of flavour whilst still having the hot spiciness you expect, and want, from Indian cuisine.
Thank you to Niz and his colleagues for a fantastic evening meal. This short review does not do them justice.

The Spice Inn is behind the Coach and Horses Pub, on the corner of Ritherup Road and Rainhill Road. 8 out of 10.
