Le Frog, St.Helens - Food Review by Brian and Miss JC - Monday 24th of January
Our fifth review of local food and drink venues is Le Frog, in George Street, St.Helens.
We went on a Tuesday to get the Tuesday Tenner special offer of 2 courses for £10, though we paid £2 extra for the more expensive beef goulash in the main course and also a side order of handcut chips.
The meals were excellent and very good value and the service was excellent, with very attentive staff. Drinks prices were average but the house white wine was very good. The atmosphere was slightly above average. A large open hall maybe more suited to larger groups but was still quiet enough for a meal for two.
Overall we gave Le Frog 8.5 due to the meal prices. Le Frog have other special offer days. see their website link above. Miss JC and I have not done many food reviews but you can read some here.
8th to 12th of February - The Ciggie Run showing At St Helens Theatre Royal
Following smash hit sell out success in 2011, this hilarious scouse comedy returns to the Theatre Royal, starring local favourite, Brookside’s Louis Emerick.
Join Chrissie (Emerick), Franna and Lash as they plan a ciggie run to subsidise their income during the recession with hilarious consequences.
The Ciggie Run is smooth going until local gangster Fitzy discovers his unmarried daughter is destined for a stroll around Mothercare and the father to be is a young Cuban by the name of Fernando. An ensuing flight turns into a hilarious comedy.

Featured Article - The Sankey Valley Country Park
The Sankey Valley Country Park follows the course of England’s first canal, the Sankey Navigation, and stretches for 15 miles from Carr Mill in St.Helens, through Warrington to Widnes.
On a sunny day the walk, or cycle ride, is far more beautiful than any walk in the lake district, with more wildlife to view and less hills to get stuck on. Why people bother to drive all way up to the lake district when this walk is on their doorstep beats me.
There are a couple of pubs that serve meals not far from the Sankey Valley pathway, so if you are not inclined to pack a picnic then stop for a meal and a relaxing drink to break from your walk.
